The Kishu is a rare Japanese breed of dog. It is also known as the Kishu Ken or the Kishu Inu. These Spitz hunting dogs come from the Kii Province, one of the most ancient regions in Japan. The Kishu is similar in characteristics and size to the Kai Ken, Shikoku, and Hokkaido breeds.

The Kishu comes in white, sesame, brindle, and red coloring. Males stand between nineteen and twenty-two inches, while females stand between seventeen and nineteen inches. Both sexes of the Kishu weigh thirty to sixty pounds. These dogs are very loyal and alert, though they tend to be somewhat docile.
