It’s obvious that this bridge, which crosses over the Mekong Delta, isn’t one of your modern-day bridges. So-called monkey bridges are very common in Vietnam and they’re handmade from just one bamboo log. Even though it doesn’t look very safe and sturdy, locals use it very often. It gets its silly name because of the way people have to move while crossing it, however, the bridge itself is a traditional symbol in Vietnam.

메콩 삼각주를 가로지르는 이 다리는 오늘날의 일반다리 중 하나는 아니라는 것이 분명합니다.  소위 원숭이 다리는 베트남에서 많이 흔하며 단 하나의 대나무 통나무로 수작업으로 만들어집니다.  아주 안전하고 견고해 보이지는 않지만 현지인들이 자주 이용합니다.  사람들이 건너는 동안 이동해야 하는 방식 때문에 어리석은 이름을 얻었지만 다리 자체는 베트남의 전통적인 상징입니다.

It’s probably better to avoid crossing this bridge unless you’re a local and have been doing it your entire life. However, even though it’s dangerous for other people to cross it, locals who use it all the time can do so even while carrying much weight.

현지인이 아니라면 평생 다리를 건너지 않는 한 이 다리를 건너지 않는 것이 좋습니다.  하지만 다른 사람들은 건너는 것이 위험하지만 항상 이용하는 현지인은 무거운 짐을 지고도 건널 수 있습니다.
