Described by some as the “Pariah Dog,” the Canaan Dog was bred by the Hebrews during Biblical times. The Canaan guarded their herds and encampments, and some Canaans are actually used for that purpose today by Druze and Bedouins in the modern day holy land! The Canaan is native to the Middle East, and it is most common in Israel.
